Dear customers

We are happy to announce that Avastar-2.5 is ready to go. So we scheduled the release date of Avastar-2.5 for 27 October 2018. If you have an active support subscription then you will receive the new release in your official download folder (without extra costs of course).

Some highlights in Avastar-2.5 are:

  • Improved support for Male characters
  • Improved Collada export of characters with custom Shapes
  • Improved User interface
  • Rig Converter stability
  • New Weight Copy Panel
  • Complete rework of the Help pages (text only)
  • Many dozens of smaller fixes
  • Detailed Changelog

what about helping us a bit?

If you have a very good knowledge about Blender and you have been using Avastar for quiet a while, then you could give us a helping hand by stressing the tool, see where it breaks and report back to us.

You find the release candidates in the daily build folder. But note that the daily builds are still numbered as Avastar-2.4-something. This is not an error, it is just a matter of numbering the pre releases in a consistent way. As long as we have not released Avastar-2.5 every uploaded revision (also the release candidates) are still considered to be successors of Avastar-2.4, hence the numbering.

Tip: Always download and install the newest available daily build for testing. We believe that Avastar-2.4-73 is the last update before we publish Avastar-2.5.

Our topics of interest for this test

– Check if the documentation works for you (do you miss something?)
– Check if what you personally need from Avastar works for you

What we would like to get

We would appreciate if you report your finds by using our ticket system. And if ever possible we would be very happy if you could make some more in depth investigations to find possible workarounds for an issue or even find possible causes for an issue.

About the ticket system

  • Please create one ticket per issue.
  • Please type in the title:

Avastar-2.5 test: <your short issue description>

Note: If you stumble over multiple issues then it is sufficient if you tell us just about one or two of the most serious problems you found.

What you get back in return

We know that testing takes time and because of this we do not expect you to spend your time for nothing. However your help will result in getting a more stable product within a shorter time.

Thanks for reading and thanks for any feedback we already got from you over the past months. You and us – together we can make a great Avastar-2.5 release!

cheers,
Gaia
